MINGOIA EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH GAME TIME

21 March 2019

Piero Mingoia says his loan move to Morecambe "couldn't have worked out any better" after eight consecutive starts for the Shrimps.

Mingoia has featured in every minute of every game for the Shrimps since signing on loan from Accrington Stanley on 31st January and the former Watford winger is enjoying the game time after making just four league appearances for Accrington this season.

Mingoia said: "My number one priority when looking for somewhere to go on loan was to play as much as possible and so far it couldn't have worked out any better, I can't have any complaints and I'm extremely pleased with how it's going."

Boss Jim Bentley added: "We'd seen Piero at Accrington and Cambridge in the past and he was different to anyone else we had at the time.

"We've got some real height in the central areas so we were thinking about getting somebody to add that supply line into them.

"He's very efficient in his work, he's very consistent and he's been one of our star performers since he came in.

"He works hard and is a very good professional so we're very thankful to Accrington for loaning him to us."

Mingoia continued: "My strength is staying wide and getting crosses into the box but I'm happy to get narrow when we're out of possession so recently when we've come up against teams that have had a lot of the ball I've been happy to help out defensively as well.

"It was hammered into me at a young age to carry out both sides of the game, you don't want to be one of those wingers that can only be effective in one type of game or scenario.

"If not, managers may not trust you when the going gets tough so I'm always trying to contribute in both phases."
