ELLISON WINS PFA COMMUNITY PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2019

8 May 2019

Kevin Ellison picked up the award for the PFA 2019 Community Player of the Year during the end of season awards last weekend.

Following on from the last game of the season against Newport County, we had the annual end of season awards ceremony at the Globe Arena.

This year the PFA Community Player of the season award went to Kevin Ellison, who's hard work hasn't just reached people in the local community- but nationwide. He has helped many since he first came out about his mental health problems and how it is okay not to be okay.

Kev has offered his help and advice for those that may be suffering with their mental health, whether this be fellow professionals in the game or members of the public. Kev continues to put out posts on social media aimed to help and encourage anyone that is suffering with their mental health to speak out about it and to not suffer in silence like many unfortunately do.

Kev has also been working alongside the Mind charity throughout the year in order to raise awareness and ensure that people get the support and respect that they need. On Kev's birthday at the Morecambe vs Lincoln home game there was a bucket collection for the Mind charity where a generous amount was donated by fellow supporters attending the match.

To add to this Kev has yet again been a great role model to the club by getting involved in Community projects such as the Premier League Primary Stars Reward day held back in April, the annual Christmas visit to the R.L.I Children's Ward and also helping to act as a friendly face on matchdays by making mascots and group vists feel welcome to the ground.

Community Sports manager Janet Preston added, " Kev has done some great work in the community over the past year, he was a great role model for the club at our Premier League Primary Stars day, the R.L.I Christmas visit to the Children's ward and has also helped many by coming out about his own mental health problems and ensuring that others suffering seek help."

Overall Kev is a well respected and popular member of the first team amongst fellow players, staff and supporters of the club and he continues to make an impact both on and off the pitch. Once again congratulations to our Community Player of the year, Kevin Ellison.
