ELLISON & ROCHE OVERSEE FIRST TEAM AFFAIRS

29 October 2019

Experienced Shrimps' players, Kevin Ellison and Barry Roche have taken over the running of first team affairs after the departure of Jim Bentley on Monday morning and the pair are "pleased to help out in any way they can."

During Tuesday morning's training session at Lancaster University, Kevin Ellison said: "With the gaffer going and a bit of uncertainty around the place, Rod's asked me and Baz if we'd be comfortable stepping up to the plate and looking after things until they get stuff sorted.

"We accepted and we're looking forward to Saturday now. It's all about keeping the lads together and getting some points on the board."

Barry Roche added: "Nobody in the dressing room saw this coming and it's been an extremely difficult couple of days.

"We're all gutted that Jim Bentley's gone but we can't feel sorry for ourselves, there's a job to be done.

"It's a massive game on Saturday, we're really disappointed with how we performed at the weekend against Stevenage and we didn't play anywhere near good enough in what was such a big game.

"Kev and I are looking to get the lads up for the next challenge and go and get the three points that we need."
