Cole Stockton says it was especially nice to get back playing as the Shrimps returned to match action in their opening pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The friendly fixture versus Manchester United was the 26-year-old's first match action since February after missing the final two games of the curtailed 2019/20 season due to injury.
"My last game was Carlisle which was six months ago," said Stockton.
"We've done a lot of running and fitness work over the past three weeks, but it's totally different on the pitch, knowing your surroundings and just getting used to finding your feet again.
"It's not going to happen overnight, basic stuff that just gets taken away with being off for so long, so it's good to play different types of teams to get back at it.
"We play against a totally different team tomorrow so it will be a different test for us but one we need."
