Cole Stockton says he was delighted to get on the scoresheet in the 1-0 friendly win over Workington on Tuesday.
The striker, whose last game for the Shrimps was at Carlisle in February where he picked up a shoulder injury, said: “Pre-season is all about match fitness and the results are always a bonus but it’s definitely nice to get among the goals in pre-season to get some confidence before the season starts.
"It was good to get little chances here and there and the aim for me now is to look at doing that week in week out and if I get a start making sure I don’t give my shirt away easily.
"I feel like I’ve come back fitter and leaner and am hopefully getting closer to being ready for the season.''
