HARRY DAVIS | It will be strange behind closed doors but we are all raring to go

31 August 2020

NEW signing Harry Davis says he is looking forward to travelling to former club Grimsby in the Shrimps’ opening game of the season this weekend.

Davis was released by the Mariners in the summer after two years with the club and the irony of a quick return is not lost on the centre half.

He said: “It’s funny how these things happen in football.

“When I saw the draw it was pleasing although I’m pretty sure the game will be played in a bit of a different atmosphere than I was used to there, with no fans.

“I had a good time (at Grimsby) and I’m looking forward to going back but obviously I’m a Morecambe player now and that’s my focus.

“It will be strange behind closed doors but we are all raring to go.''

Talking about his time at the club since joining he said: “It’s been good so far and I’m settling in well.

“The manager really sold the club to me in pre-season and made me feel really wanted, which is important for any player.

“Since I’ve come I’ve really enjoyed it. I knew a few of the lads already and there is a bit of a former Crewe contingent here with A-Jay Leitch-Smith and Kelvin Mellor, who I know well and that has helped.''
