SIGNING | Harry Davis

2 August 2020

THE Shrimps have clinched their second signing of the summer with former Crewe and Grimsby defender Harry Davis joining the club on a one year contract.

The 28-year-old follows fellow defender Stephen Hendrie to the club as boss Derek Adams looks to build his squad for the coming season.

Harry joined the Academy at Crewe Alexandra at the age of 7, spending 18 years at the club and made his professional debut for the club on the final day of the 2009/10 season. He earned a regular spot in the team from the 11/12 season, making 47 appearances and scoring 5 goals in all competitions as the side earned promotion through the play-offs with a 2-0 victory at Wembley over Cheltenham.

After 208 appearances for the club, 13 goals in all competitions and a lengthy spell captaining the side, Davis made a loan move to St Mirren in January 2017, before making the move permanent in August 2017 and moving to Grimsby Town last season.

Davis said: “I spoke to the manager and he really made me feel wanted and in football that is a big thing. I’m delighted to be here and looking forward to getting going.

“I know a few of the lads such as A-Jay Leitch-Smith from my time at Crewe and I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the lads and getting out there and playing games and hopefully having an enjoyable and successful season.’'

Derek Adams said: “Harry comes in from Grimsby and is another with good experience at this level. He can play right or left centre half and is a player who has a physical presence who uses the ball well and gives us more strength at the back.''
