SIGNING | Ben Pringle

10 August 2020

THE SHRIMPS have added experienced midfielder Ben Pringle to their squad for the 2020/21 season.

The 32-year-old former Preston North End midfielder has agreed a one-year-deal as Morecambe boss Derek Adams continues to build his squad for the new season.

Pringle, who was with Gillingham last season, is best known to Shrimps for his spell at Rotherham when he helped the Millers win back-to-back promotions from League 2 to the Championship, making 102 appearances and scoring 15 goals during those respective campaigns before securing himself a move to high-flying Fulham in the Championship.

He joined Preston in 2016 and had loan spells with Grimsby Town and Tranmere before being reunited with former boss Steve Evans at Gillingham.

"I'm pleased to get it done," said Pringle.

"It's been uncertain times for everybody so to get it over the line is a good feeling and I'm pleased to be here.

"I've been here for a week now so I've met all the lads and I just can't wait for the season to get going.

"It's going to be a bit of a strange one but hopefully the fans can come back in at some point."

Derek Adams added: "We've signed Ben as a left-sided midfield player, he's vastly experienced and will give us creativity in the middle of the park.

"He's very good and comfortable on the ball, hopefully he can do well for us."
