TOUMANI DIAGOURAGA | You have to get your head down and get through it

20 August 2020

TOUMANI Diagouraga says he is looking forward to getting back to match action after a tough few weeks on the training field.

The experienced midfielder, who made a huge impact after joining the Shrimps in January says that he is ready to get some game time after not playing since the League 2 season ended in March because of Covid-19.

He said: “Pre-season's going really good, it's been a tough couple of weeks so far but that's what we needed after the time off.

“It's been red hot, especially when running on that track but that's when you have to get your head down and get through it.

“I've worked with the gaffer before but this is my first pre-season with him. I expected it to be tough... and it is!

“It's been up there with the toughest I've had in my career but it's been a good balance of football and running so I can't complain.

“Lockdown has helped me. I've not been able to go on holiday or do much at all so I've just focused on getting fit, which has made it a little easier.

“We've been back on the training field now for about three weeks so I think everyone's looking forward to some game time.’’

Asked about the forthcoming fixtures he said: “Pre-season games are what they are. You can't get too excited when you do well and at the same time you can't be too downbeat when things don't go your way.

They're not so much about results, they're about us getting ready for the first game of the season.’’
