DEREK ADAMS | There Were Good Performances All Over The Field

22 December 2020

MORECAMBE boss Derek Adams said his side fully deserved the three points at Colchester.

After seeing his side move up to fifth in the League 2 table with a fine performance the boss said he was delighted with the spirit of his side who inflicted a first home defeat of the season onto Colchester.

Adams felt his side were so dominant they could have won the game by an even greater margin.

He said: "Over the 90 minutes we created so many opportunities it was frightening and the only downside was we should have scored a lot more.

"It was a really good performance and excellent to go to a place like Colchester and beat a side who hadn’t lost at home this season as well as we did.

"We went into the game knowing the threat they could be but to be fair to my players we could have, and should have, won by more. We could have scored four or five goals in reality. We hit the post twice, we hit the bar, their goalkeeper was man of the match and we scored two goals as well."

He added: “There were loads of good performances all over the field. Cole Stockton was excellent up front and the midfield worked hard in attack and defence.

“The defence rose to the challenge against a Colchester side who we knew had a lot of pace down the flanks and overall it was a great performance and great to keep our good run going.''
