WILDIG PLEASED TO SCORE SECOND GOAL OF THE SEASON

14 February 2020

Aaron Wildig says he was "pleased to score" on Tuesday evening and hopes to add more goals to his current tally of two for the season.

Wildig doubled the Shrimps' lead over Macclesfield Town in the 35th minute of the 2-0 victory, which saw Morecambe leapfrog Macclesfield in the Sky Bet League Two table.

Wildig said: "I had a large slice of luck with the deflection, which is something I've lacked when in front of goal for Morecambe.

"I should contribute more goals. It's something I've known for a while and hopefully between now and the end of the season my luck will change and I can add a few more to my tally.

"I played a different role in the game, out on the left. I've always drifted out to the left when playing in a midfield three so it's just adapting to a slightly different starting position.

Conditions were terrible on Tuesday night and it could be similar tomorrow at Grimsby.

On Tuesday we played the conditions well in both halves, with and without the wind.

That may be something we have to replicate tomorrow in order for us to pick up another positive result.
