SHRIMPS SET TO HOST CAMBRIDGE UNITED

24 January 2020

The Shrimps host Cambridge United at the Globe Arena on Saturday afternoon as Derek Adams looks to extend his side's string of home results, which has seen only one defeat in their last seven fixtures on home soil.

Cambridge make the trip north off the back of a disappointing 4-0 home defeat to then bottom club Stevenage, which saw Morecambe slip to the foot of the table.

The result for Colin Calderwood's side was their fourth successive defeat, their sixth in seven games. Their last victory came against the Shrimps at the Abbey Stadium in December.

The Shrimps' were beaten last time out at Sixfields despite having the best chances and dominating periods of the game.

Boss, Derek Adams said: "After last week's game against Northampton we've signed Christian Mbulu and we obviously signed Christoffer Mafoumbi prior to the game for the rest of the season and we're looking to continue to strengthen the side before the window closes.

"We've got one more signing to try and make before next Friday.

"We're looking forward to the game against Cambridge, we've done really well at home recently and the supporters have really backed us at home.

"We've put together some really good performances of late and Adam Phillips has created a couple of goals, scored a couple of goals and we look good going forward."
