SHRIMPS’ defender Steven Old is hoping his run of goalscoring form continues over the next few weeks.
The central defender scored the opener in the win at Walsall at midweek and is hoping to add to that tally this weekend at Cheltenham.
He said: “I’ve scored two in the last four games now and it is good to be back on the scoresheet again I must admit.
“I scored two at Mansfield early in the season and have come close a few times since but the goal on Tuesday came at a great time.
“We had worked on the corner before the game and it was great to see that preparation pay off. We had looked at how they set up for corners and worked out a plan and it paid off. I was unmarked and it was great to see the ball creep over the line.
“We have said a few times that when we go a goal up we are pretty hard to beat and we held onto the lead really well on Tuesday. We had a bit of luck which was nice right at the death when they hit the post but I think we were overdue a bit of fortune and the aim now is to build on that success.’’
