ROCHE CONFIRMED AS GOALKEEPING COACH

16 July 2020

BARRY Roche says he can’t wait for the season to start after being announced as the Shrimps’ goalkeeping coach.

The long serving Roche, who announced his retirement from playing at the end of the season, took over the role on a temporary basis last year after the departure of Lee Jones but has now agreed a permanent role with the club.

He said: “There was never any real doubt in my mind that I wanted the job and I’m delighted that everything has been confirmed.

“It is something I have always planned to do. I took my badges while I was playing because I knew the day would come when I would have to retire and now that time has come I can’t wait to get going.

“It’s an exciting time for me. I got a taste last year but it was a bit hard at first because I was still a player in my mind. All that has changed now and I’m looking forward to getting back to it.’'

Morecambe boss Derek Adams said: “I’m delighted to have Barry on board with us again.

“He proved last season that he has great knowledge of the game and is a good coach who is well respected by everyone he works with and the club’s supporters.''
