MORECAMBE Football Club says is it hugely disappointed to have had to cancel a fundraising event this Friday due to Coronavirus restrictions.
Players and staff at the club had looked to take part in a 34km run, walk or cycle event to raise funds for the family of Christian Mbulu who sadly died last month at the age of just 23.
But the club and the players have now had to take into account the rules on social distancing and gatherings and will look to honour their former team mate at another time or in another way.
Co-Chairman, Rod Taylor, said: “The players are really upset that they will not be able to take part in the event as they really wanted to come together for their teammate, Christian.
“It is really disappointing but we all recognise that we have to take into account all the current guidelines and have a responsibility to do what we can to protect others.
“As a club we will all come together and find the right time to honour Christian and raise some money for his daughter, hopefully in the not so distant future.’’
