MORECAMBE boss Derek Adams was delighted after seeing his side beat Manchester United Under 21s 4-0 at the Mazuma Stadium.
Speaking after the win he said: “We could have won by more and six or seven wouldn’t have flattered us.
“It was a really good because United had a talented side with a lot of good young players who scored six against Salford and the only frustration was that we didn’t go through into the next round because of the way we lost the game against Rochdale when we were winning with a couple of minutes to go.
“They had a side full of players who I am sure will go on to have very good careers in the game but we have got good players too.
“I was delighted for Freddie Price who scored his first senior goal for us and Carlos Mendes Gomes is still a relative youngster and there were plusses all over the park with Ryan Cooney scoring two very good goals.
“Ryan has got forward into good areas and cut inside and curled two great goals past the keeper and showed what an adaptable player he is.
“Overall it was a really good night. The lads showed a great attitude and passed the ball well. We got a clean sheet and got the players some good minutes in the tank too.''
