Derek Adams' side face Bolton Wanderers at the Mazuma Stadium on Saturday afternoon with the Shrimps looking to leapfrog their automatic promotion rivals.
Ian Evatt's side sit a single point above the Shrimps in the Sky Bet League Two table after losing just two of their last 19 games.
Morecambe have the best home record in the league, with 12 wins, five draws and 36 goals scored.
The Shrimps sit on 72 points with three fixtures to play, a single point behind their all time highest points total achieved in the Football League.
"It's a big game for both clubs," said Adams.
"It's third against fourth in the league and we have put ourselves in a great position with three games to go.
"We're still fighting for the chance to get automatic promotion and the players are in a buoyant mood.
"I think that we have shown that we have grit and determination, we've scored 11 goals over the last three games and we've shown our cutting edge that has been there for much of the season.
