SAM LAVELLE | It's Not Over

26 April 2021

Shrimps skipper Sam Lavelle admits he and his teammates are bitterly disappointed with Saturday's defeat to Bolton Wanderers but the automatic promotion push is still alive with two games remaining.

Morecambe suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Mazuma Stadium after a 23rd minute red card and two first-half injuries made for difficult circumstances for Derek Adams' side.

"It was difficult," said Lavelle.

"Going town to 10 men after 20 minutes was a blow and it was always going to be tough for us after that.

"I don't want to say too much about the referee today but we didn't get much from him.

"I did still feel as though we could get a point or even three because even though we were a man down, we have that spirit in the camp.

"We work hard and we're tough to break down, we left nothing out on the pitch and you can't fault the efforts of any of those lads in there.

"The ball just didn't fall for us at the end and we're absolutely gutted.

"Despite how disappointed we are, it's not over.

"We've done unbelievably well this season and we'll fight until the very last game."
