JOHN O'SULLIVAN | We’re Absolutely Delighted With The Performance

15 April 2021

John O’Sullivan said he was delighted with the way the Shrimps bounced back to form with their fine 4-1 victory over Scunthorpe.

O’Sullivan, who had a hand in three of the Shrimps’ four goals, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the performance, especially after the last couple of disappointing results.

“We wanted to bounce back. I think we went back to basics and showed how hard-working we are as a side and the togetherness we have.

“From minute one, especially the front line we were at it. We pressed high, we dealt with their forwards and we scored some great goals and probably should have scored more.

“We needed to get back to winning ways and it showed what we’re about. We’re a hard-working side with quality going forward.

“I’m delighted with my own performance with three assists but it’s a team effort. As I said a few weeks ago I don’t care who scores or assists as long as we win and this was a big win for us.

“The pressing led to the first goal for Cole Stockton and what a strike it was. Cole has got that in his locker and always scores the hard ones and when he plays well nine times out of 10 we win.

“The second goal was similar as we nicked it off them and Carlos got a great first touch and took his goal well and this was a night when everyone was at it.

"Everyone worked hard and kept pressing and everyone gave everything. We still want to use for the top three and if we stick to the basics and keep working hard we will see where that takes us.’'
