Defeat is tough to take says Leigh

22 August 2021

Left-back Greg Leigh says the Shrimps are disappointed to come away with nothing against Gillingham.

The 26-year-old, who signed for the club in the summer, believes the Shrimps did well in the game and were unlucky to be on the losing side.

“It’s a tough one to take for the team,” said Leigh.

“I felt that we definitely limited all their threats, they haven’t had a lot of chances in the game, and it’s come down to two set pieces.

“I felt that we dominated the game, especially the second half, we were the only team really that played the football during the game and we’re just disappointed that two incidents in the game have cost us.”

The former Bradford City has been unlucky with injuries in previous years, although since arriving at the Mazuma Stadium, he says he’s feeling good.

“I’m feeling strong,” he added.

“It’s one thing for me to come in and start thinking about how I’m going to keep myself fit, I’ve had disappointments and definitely some bad luck.

“it’s all about how I can make myself strong enough to keep going game after game, working hard myself just on my own personal stuff and it’s been good to get the support of the staff here to know I can work on my own stuff as well as them help me with the stuff I need to do to keep myself fit.”
