McPake targets another three points after debut victory

16 August 2021

On-loan Rangers man Josh McPake is looking to follow up his impressive debut performance with another three points against Rotherham United on Tuesday night.

McPake was voted as the fans’ Man of the Match on Twitter as he played a vital role in the victory over a lacklustre Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, and the Scotsman says he enjoyed every minute of his first outing in a red and white kit.

“It was a dream start [getting three points against Shrewsbury Town] but we have to take it game by game at the minute and not get too far ahead of ourselves,” he said.

“I loved it, it was great debut - I think the team played really well and I really enjoyed it too be fair. We deserved the win, we worked hard in the build up to the game and we just need to keep grinding results out.

“I had a slight setback at the start of the season which held me back a bit, I rolled my ankle so I was out for about a week/10 days, I worked really hard with the physios and I have to give them a lot of credit.

The Millers come at the Mazuma Stadium off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic last time out, and McPake is hoping that the home support can make it an another uncomfortable away day for the visitors.

“Every game in this league is tough but I wouldn’t put it past us either, I think we have to keep building on the results that we have in the bag already,” he added.

“I have enjoyed every minute at Morecambe so far, the lads have been really welcoming and the staff as well, I am hopeful that it can be a successful season for us.

“The fans were brilliant on Saturday, the atmosphere helped us focus on the task at hand, especially when we went 2-0 up, they certainly played their part and I know they will do the same again on Tuesday.”
