Armed Forces recruitment event at Fleetwood Town fixture

16 December 2021

Following the Club's decision to sign the Armed Forces Covenant in November, we are delighted to announce that we are hosting an Armed Forces recruitment event at Saturday’s game against Fleetwood Town.

The forces recruitment event will be run by lifelong Shrimps fan and infantry soldier of 30 years, Colour Sergeant Jason Townson.

Jason is the Armed Forces’ Recruitment, Engagement, Support and Mentoring Officer for Morecambe, Lancaster, Blackburn, Blackpool and Preston.

He is also a serving member of the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, which is the local regiment for both Morecambe and Fleetwood.  If you are a home or away fan who might be interested in a career in the Armed Forces, then visit Jason's stand in front of the Mazuma Stadium to find out more.

Club Director, James Wakefield said: “When we signed the covenant in November, we made it clear that actions speak louder than words and it is therefore fantastic to be able to host two events [along with the coffee morning on Wednesday 22 December] so soon after committing to support the Armed Forces.

The Club plays a vital role in the local community and serving personnel, veterans, and their families form a hugely important part of that community.  We look forward to events like these becoming a regular occurrence going forwards.”
