Cole Stockton’s 94th minute winner from inside his own half has won Morecambe’s Goal of the Month for November.
The long-range effort was one of the last kicks of the game and proved enough to hand the Shrimps all three points on what was a wet and windy afternoon at Highbury.
The 27-year-old has claimed the reward for the fourth month in a row, and Stockton says the strike stemmed from his own confidence.
“Not many players would get the ball on the half turn there, last minute of the game, and go for goal,” he said.
“It’s last minute as well, worst case scenario it goes out for a goal kick, but I back myself to do stuff like that.
“I didn’t realise how good of a goal it was until I seen it back, because in a game, you’re still hyped, as you could see from the celebrations and what it meant, but looking back, how much it was spoken about on social media etc, it is nice to see.”
