The first chance of the game came for the home side after seven minutes, a wonderful cross from the right by Ryan Cooney was glanced just wide by the head of Adam Phillips.
10 minutes later Stephen Robinson’s side had to be on red alert after Shayden Morris broke through the back-line and headed for goal. Thankfully for the Shrimps, Kyle Letheren was on hand to make a stunning one-on-one save to keep the scores level.
Phillips had the next chance of the game, from the edge of the penalty area after Cole Stockton was taken down by a Fleetwood defender. Up stepped the on-loan Burnley man, but his effort cannoned off the wall and went behind for a corner.
With six minutes of the half remaining, the Shrimps came close once again to finding the back of the net.
A through ball from Phillips found the feet of Stockton who in-turn found a yard of space before unleashing an effort that look destined tor the top-corner, but his right-footed effort was just over the top of Cairns’ goal.

Into the second-half and it was the home side again who looked to assert their authority, a cross from McLaughlin on the right found the head of Stockton, only for his header to drop wide of Cairns’ left post.
Tricky winger Cian Hayes caused problems all game but the Shrimps defence were on top to make sure the 18-year-old did not find the back of the net.
On the 88th minute, the home side had a solid chance to win the game game through Stockton.
A ball over the top found the striker who managed to break the Cod Army back-line before unleashing a shot, however on this occasion, Cairns was equal to the effort.
