Morecambe boss Derek Adams was delighted with his side’s performance in their 2-0 victory at Exeter.
After seeing his side move up to third in the table with a fine away display he said: “It was a terrific win. Exeter are a really good team so to get a 2-0 win was excellent and we could have won the game by a bigger margin.
“We started the game on the front foot. We knew they would play with three at the back and we put them under unreal pressure at the start of the game putting balls down the side and we got in behind them early with a definite penalty which Adam Phillips converted.
“They changed their formation after 20 minutes to try and match us up but after a good period for them we got a second goal with a great ball from Adam Phillips that Cole finished well.
“Defensively we had to be at our best all night because they are a side that play themselves into good areas but we stayed firm and Jökull Andrésson had another excellent game.
“Overall it was a great win, especially when you consider the distance we have had to travel and the back to back wins and clean sheets has put us into a really good position.”
