TOUMANI DIAGOURAGA | We’re Feeling Good

28 January 2021

Toumani Diagouraga hopes that the team can keep their solid run of form going after a strong start to 2021.

Derek Adams’ side travelled to Exeter City on Tuesday night and came out 2-0 winners with goals coming from Adam Phillips and Cole Stockton.

Defensive midfielder Diagouraga, who scored his first goal of the season in last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Colchester United, believes the team deserved all three points after their visit to St James Park.

Diagouraga said: “I thought we started really well. After 20-25 minutes, Exeter changed their shape to match us up.

“They had most of the ball, but we stuck to our game plan and we got the result that we wanted.”

The Shrimps find themselves third in the table, level on points with second and only a point off top spot with a game in hand and Morecambe’s number eight has said it’s difficult not to enjoy the feel-good factor.

“When you’re in a team that is winning football matches, you can’t do anything but enjoy it,” Diagouraga added.

“It’s been a good season so far for us as a team and hopefully we can carry on with that form.

“We’re feeling good, we’re going into every game knowing that we can beat any team in this league.”

Despite the team’s impressive run of form, the Parisian reiterated the importance of keeping focussed on the job at hand.

Diagouraga continued: “We all know in this league you can win five on the bounce or you can lose five.

“It can change very quickly so you can’t get carried away. We’re just enjoying it, hopefully we can keep this run going.”
