We are thrilled to announce that Ryan Daly has been appointed as our new Head of Media & Communications, starting on Monday 2 August.
Daly, who has an excellent track record working in a variety of media positions within football, joins us after nearly three years working at the EFL.
Whilst at the EFL, he developed a positive reputation for his work, which included day-to-day management of the League’s social media channels, formulating engaging content around the 72 clubs and writing content for Cup Final programmes such as the Carabao Cup, Papa John’s Trophy and the EFL Play-Offs.
Joining the club ahead of an historic first season in Sky Bet League One, Ryan will use his invaluable experience from his four years at Doncaster Rovers, including a promotion from League Two into League One, to lead our media department moving forward.
Following his appointment, Ryan has spoken about the challenge ahead: "Firstly, I am absolutely delighted to be joining the club as it embarks on its first season in League One and I’m sure it will be an exciting campaign for everyone involved.
"The club’s vision and their three-year-plan is one of the main reasons I applied for the job, as I believe I can play a big part in the development of an already established club such as Morecambe.
“The communication between the club and the fans is key, and that is something that I want to get stuck into straight away. We have already set out some targets which we aim to achieve, and that involves the whole of the Morecambe family. I am really excited to see what lies ahead."
The club's General Manager, Ben Sadler, said: "This is a hugely exciting appointment for the club.
"In line with the three-year-plan that we have in place, and supporter feedback, we are looking to develop and improve across every aspect of the business. Ryan’s qualities and experience will help us to underpin this, and bring together every department within the club, as well as the wider Morecambe FC family.
"Ryan has previously worked as part of the Club Doncaster set up, so has a great understanding and appreciation of the unity and interdependency that is required to drive the football club forward.
"Matt Smith has done an outstanding job looking after all of our media and social media output over the last month or so. He is an extremely talented individual and will be a huge asset to Ryan and the club in future. We are delighted that Matt will continue to assist the media team this season, alongside his studies, and will no doubt develop further under the leadership of Ryan.
"We have a great team in place, with Ryan, Matt & Derek Quinn, which will continue to evolve and improve over the coming years.”
