Morecambe Football Club is delighted to welcome Tom Bryan as Academy Head of Recruitment.

Tom will oversee the recruitment of players into the Shrimps’ youth system, from Under 7s to Under 18s and brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Tom’s most recent position was with Stoke City; with a focus on national recruitment for Under 14 – Under 23 age groups.

Prior to that, he worked as Head of Academy Recruitment with Rotherham United, identifying local talent with the potential to progress through the academy pathway into the professional game.

Tom is currently studying for an MSc International Sports Business degree, having already completed a PGCE and BSc Sports Performance degree.

Head of Youth, Stewart Drummond said: “I am really pleased to welcome Tom on board. We are an established Category 3 academy now and Tom brings excellent experience that will strengthen our recruitment of young players and widen the club’s reach in the search for future prospects.”

Tom Bryan added: “Within any academy the most important objective is to produce professional football players, who will complement the first team squad.”

“To achieve this objective, we must create and maintain strong links with grassroots teams in the area, the club’s own Community Department and other organisations.”

“I am excited to get started and look forward to making lots of new contacts as we move forward together.”

Tom highlights his desire to bolster the existing network of academy Scouts and is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to get in touch.

“We need an agile team of Scouts who have great football knowledge and links within the region. This is a very exciting time at Morecambe FC and I look forward to hearing from anyone who has the appropriate knowledge and experience and would like to get involved.”
