Morecambe boss Derek Adams said promotion to League One was a "fantastic achievement'' for the club.
After steering the Shrimps to promotion to the third tier of the game for the first ever time Adams said: “I’m absolutely delighted. To go to Wembley and win is probably the best way to get promotion.
"The team spirt and camaraderie that we have had came to the fore again and it is a fantastic achievement for this club.
"It was a difficult game and it wasn't a free flowing match with not many chances but for us to get the penalty and for Carlos take it so well was fantastic for everyone in Morecambe. The fans are quite rightly jubilant and they deserve it because they have had a lot of tough times in recent years.
"These are special times. It is difficult to get promotion but these players have done and deserve every bit of praise they get. We do work the players hard but to be the best you have to work as hard as you can. If you do the hours you will improve and those players who have done that have stayed with us and improved as individuals and as a team.
"To get to League One is a fantastic achievement and I am delighted for everyone involved with the club.
“Where we have put ourselves, from being at the bottom of the table with the lowest wage bill, shows a great deal of character.
“That’s from the players and the staff as well, they have helped get us to this situation.”
