We need to be more consistent says Delaney

28 November 2021

Defender Ryan Delaney says the Shrimps must put the defeat to MK Dons behind them and get back on track as soon as possible.

Despite controlling the game in the opening 15 minutes, the Dons ended up as four-nil winners and Delaney says things could have been a lot different if the side took their chances.

“It is a tough one to take because we had our spells in the game, we conceded a lot of soft goals and when we were on top, we didn’t take our chances,” he said.

“We’ve got to pick ourselves up and go again, we have been on quite a good run over the last couple of games, hopefully this game is just a blip and we can get back on track next week.

“We started the game really well, we pressed them high up the pitch and won the ball back in some dangerous areas, but after they got that first goal they had the foot up on us and that was disappointing.”

After one win, one draw and one defeat over the last week Delaney has called on the side to be more consistent if they want to move up the Sky Bet League One standings.

“That consistency will help you climb the table, where you can be looking up rather than down - I feel like the squad we have is good enough to move up the division,” he added.

“We just need to get some consistency and push on as team and we know we can do that we work hard on a daily basis, everyone always gives 100 per cent.

“We have to be full switched on on in every game that we play and next week [against Buxton] in the FA Cup is no difference, the competition has massive history behind it and we have to be at the races.”
