The Shrimps lost out on penalties following a 2-2 draw in normal time against Hartlepool United at a wet and rainy Victoria Park in the Papa John's Trophy.
Matty Daly opened the scoring for the hosts on eight minutes before a Shane McLoughlin chip and a Callum Jones penalty fired the Shrimps ahead before the break.
That man Daly found the net again on 83 minutes to send the game to penalties where it was the Pools who secured victory by four goals to two.
