Robinson set to make changes

4 October 2021

Manager Stephen Robinson has confirmed that he will make changes to the side that faced Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend in Tuesday night’s game against Hartlepool United.

The Shrimps boss suggested that youngsters such as Connor Pye and Freddie Price could be in line to make an appearance and added that changes to his side are a necessity ahead of a long season.

“I will make a lot of changes but the changes I make are a necessity, they have to get minutes, the league is a tough league and we need people ready to go when we need them,” he added.

“All of the change I will make, I believe that they are players that should be in the first-team anyway, a couple of the younger lads will play to give them experience and get minutes under their belt.

“Young Connor Pye who has been terrific with us deserves a little chance, Freddie [Price] who has been patient will get some game time as well.”

Despite the impending changes, the message is still clear from Robinson, he will accept nothing but three points from their Papa John's Trophy game at Victoria Park

He added: “We want to win the game, just because I am making changes - we won’t be setting out with a mindset that we don’t want to win the game.

“We will be playing our normal way, with our normal energy, there are things that subconsciously I think we can work on, it is only human nature when you are 2-0 up to sit back and protect, so I am trying to change that mentality.

“That will start on Tuesday night, if we do go ahead to take that positive step froward, to bring the game to them and play football, not lashing at it because we aren’t that kind of team, we are learning lessons all the time.”
