Academy boys lift trophy at midweek tournament
A group of young players from the Club’s Academy had a memorable night when they travelled to Manchester City for a midweek festival.
The mini tournament saw the Shrimps face Crewe Alexandra, Cardiff City and hosts Manchester City in a series of well-contested fixtures.
The Morecambe youngsters came out on top in all their games, bagging eight goals along the way, to earn a place in the Final against City.
In an exciting conclusion, the Shrimps sealed victory on penalties and got to lift the trophy.
Morecambe Foundation Phase Lead Coach Ollie Ras said: “It was a fantastic experience for our lads. To play at the home of a Category One academy like Manchester City is quite something and our boys took it in their stride and were unfazed by the occasion.”
Ollie added: “I’d like to thank Manchester City for being fantastic hosts and making it such a special night.”
