Gaffer's delight at sensational second goal

22 September 2021

Stephen Robinson was delighted with the way his side went about their business as they recorded a 3-1 win over Crewe Alexandra at the Mornflake Stadium.

Two goals from Arthur Gnaouha and one from Adam Phillips helped the Shrimps to three points in Sky Bet League One, and Robinson took pleasure in the build up to the first two goals.

“We have been harping on about getting balls into the box and it was a great delivery by Greg [Leigh] and Adam Phillips was very good,” he said.

“The second goal as well, it is a cross from the right by Wes [McDonald], something we have been drumming into him and Arthur [Gnaouha] is there to apply the finish.

“It is something we have been working on, getting those wide players into the box - so that second goal was probably my favourite because we have been working on it a lot.”

Gnaouha netted his first goals for the club since joining in the summer, and the Shrimps boss was impressed with his performance on the night.

“Arthur [Gnaouha] is a great boy, he works his socks off for us and on another night he could have three or four,” he added.

“He is now adding an end product to his game and that is what we have been asking from him, physically, he holds the ball up quite well and he is technically gifted.

“I am delighted for him, he is a quiet boy, he doesn’t say much but I know deep down he is very happy.”
