Robinson eyes up three points against Imps

27 September 2021

Manager Stephen Robinson says Tuesday night’s game gives his side a really good opportunity to pick up three points and climb the Sky Bet League One table.

The Shrimps currently sit 16th in the league standings with 11 points after nine games, a win over Lincoln City could see them move up as high as the Play-Off places, and Robinson knows that the Imps will have their eyes set on the same goal.

“It is a big game for us, we are right beside each other in the table and they will be thinking the same, Lincoln are a very good side,” he said.

“They started slowly but have started to get a few results under their belt, every game is a tough game in this division, it is a huge incentive to get a victory that would see us move up the table.

“This season has been a bit of a rollercoaster hasn’t it, but what desire we have, if I am a Morecambe fan and I see the desire these players play with, I’d be quietly content I think.”

Two players in the shape of Arthur Gnahoua and Adam Phillips have caught the gaffer’s eye of late, with their final product in games pleasing Robinson.

He added: “We have spent a lot of time with the wide players on their end product, they are easy on the eye but there is definitely an end product to Arthur’s game now.

“Long may that continue because ultimately that is what you get judged on, scoring and assisting goals, it was a super cross from him to set Adam [Phillips] up.

“Adam has now got three goals in the league from midfield, he is getting there, getting close to completing 90 minutes, so if he has a bit of a free role we all know what an abundance of talent he has got.”
