Adams counting on home advantage

4 April 2022

Manager Derek Adams says being on home soil on Tuesday night will give the Shrimps the advantage against Oxford United on Tuesday night.

After picking up three points on Saturday against Burton Albion, Adams says the home support will carry them over the line.

“There are other fixtures that affect us on Tuesday night as well, so we are aware of that as well, Gillingham don’t play and that is what we are looking at,” he said.

“Three points gets us out of the drop zone and that is what we are targeting, we are trying to use that to our advantage, we respect and understand what Oxford United are about.

“We have got home advantage, the home supporters were here on Saturday in really good numbers once again, and it will be the same again on Tuesday.”

The U’s are fighting for a spot in this season’s Play-Offs, and the gaffer says he is a big fan of Karl Robinson’s side.

“I like Oxford, I always have done as a football club," he added.

"They have a lot of individually talented players, they are a club that were in the Play-Offs last season.

“They are trying to get back in the Play-Offs this season, they are like us, they have to win the game, granted to different reasons, we want to get out of the bottom four and they want to get into the Play-Offs and we both have the opportunity to do that.

“Karl Robinson has always got good technically gifted players and we will see that tomorrow night, we have to overcome them.”
