Phillips aware of Pompey threat

17 April 2022

Midfielder Adam Phillips says the side are aware of the threat that Portsmouth possess ahead of Monday's Sky Bet League One encounter at the Mazuma Stadium.

The Shrimps could make it four wins in their last five games should they beat Danny Cowley’s men, and Phillips is looking forward to being back on home soil.

“They are a good team, they have obviously got some good players, when we played them at their place they were dangerous, especially on the counter-attack,” he said.

“I think they have won their last two games and have scored quite a few goals in them games as well, so we will have to be at our best on Monday.

“We have to take the confidence we have got at that moment into that game, we have the fans behind us who have been magnificent all season, and they will be up for it as much as we will be.”

The on-loan Burnley man is thriving under Derek Adams once again, and is keen to make sure the Shrimps take each game as it comes.

“We want to finish the season above that dotted line, that is the main aim but at the minute, we have got to take each game as it comes,” he added.

“We have to keep putting performances in like we did on Good Friday, getting the results that we need and we should be fine.

“As long as the team is winning and getting the points on the board, that is all that matters, we just need to continue what we have been doing and go out there in these last three games and make it count.”
