Shrimps have to be at their best to see off MK Dons says Adams

22 April 2022

Manager Derek Adams says his side will go to MK Dons full of confidence and will look to come away from Milton Keynes with all three points.

The Shrimps travel to Stadium MK on Saturday looking to build on their draw against Portsmouth last time out, and Adams says the side will have to be at their best against a side who sit outside the automatic promotion places on goal difference.

“We know what we have to do, we have got to get a win in one of these two games and that is what we are trying to do, we understand that MK Dons and Sunderland need that as well,” he said.

“We have gone away to Charlton and done well, we will have to be at our best against MK Dons because they have done exceptionally well this season.

“I think if we go to MK Dons and sit in for long periods of time, that isn't going to help us as they have a lot of talent in their ranks, we need to try and win the match, we have shown that we are very good on the counter-attack and we have shown that we can create chances.”

With just two games remaining in Sky Bet League One in the 2021/22 campaign and the Shrimps above the drop zone by three points, and Adams says it is hard not to look at other results at this point in the season.

“When I came into the Club 11 games ago, it was an important that we put ourselves in a position that we could get out of trouble, we have done that,” he added.

“We understood the tough games that we had to play and we have done really well at it, we do look at the other results because it affects us.

“We have all been aligned in getting the Club into a much better position, we have done that over the last number of years, which has enabled us, with two games to go, be able to stay in this division.”
