The young Shrimps were beaten 2-0 by Port Vale U18s on Saturday, with two second-half goals securing the win for the visitors.
After a good run of results in recent weeks, Morecambe had hoped their luck would have continued in their home fixture against Port Vale, but it was not to be after a penalty, closely followed by a second, was the difference between the two sides.
Port Vale applied pressure from the get go and their strikers were creating problems for the home side early on.
Morecambe had a short spell where they were creating a few chances, with their first real opportunity was a free kick taken by Jamie Nicholson, but it was cleared by the visitors and their goal keeper looked untroubled.
The Valiants took back possession and looked to be bothering the back four, but Mani Davidson continued to put up a fight and at half-time, the teams went in level.

Head Coach Darren Finch made his first substitution on the whistle for the second-half, as Daniel Foden replaced Pye.
Morecambe came back with a fight and were trying hard to link play together to make something happen and, but they could not troube the goalkeeper.
However, it proved to be only a temporary respite for the visitors as they were awarded a penalty in the 65th minute, the resulting penalty was scored, giving the away side the lead.
The Shrimps switched their front line up when Cameron Rooney came on for Callum Sandle, but they were struggling to keep hold of the game and it showed when the visitors headed home their second late on.
A last change to the line-up saw Louie Lancaster replacing Leyton Holden, as Morecambe tried to find a way back and tighten up their defence.
