Gaffer looking to impose home form on MK Dons

26 August 2022

Derek Adams says the Shrimps will look to take their undefeated home form into Saturday’s visit of MK Dons in Sky Bet League One.

The Mazuma Stadium has seen three games this season, two draws against Shrewsbury Town and Fleetwood Town respectively, as well as a penalty shootout victory over Stoke City in Round One of the Carabao Cup.

Whilst the Shrimps have come up against difficult tests both home and away so far this campaign, Adams has praised how his squad have competed.

“[MK Dons] is a big game for us,” he said.

“At home, we’ve done really well, away from home as well, we’ve had to come up against Peterborough United, Bolton Wanderers and Oxford United, so they’ve been difficult ties.

“We’re undefeated at home this season, we’re going to take that into the game on Saturday and try to get a victory, which would put us in a good position.

“MK Dons were in the Play-Offs last year, [they] just missed out on getting promoted, they’re a very good side.”

Following Morecambe’s Carabao Cup Round Two triumph over Sky Bet Championship Rotherham United on Tuesday night, the gaffer was quick to praise how his squad work for each other.

He added: “We haven’t got a big group, but what we have got is a small group that are willing to work, help each other, give others information and that takes you a long way.

“Other than that, we’ve got ability in the squad that can take us forward.

“We’re in a league that is extremely tough, and we’ve been competing in it, we’ve had two losses in the league this season, we’ve had three draws and we’ve won two cup games.

“We’re in a strong position physically, and mentally as well, going into the game."
