Mayor: A Fantastic Feeling

3 December 2022

Adam Mayor admits he's over the moon to have signed his first professional contract, and is looking forward to a bright future.

The forward signed pro-terms with the Shrimps on Friday, having come through the Academy setup at the Mazuma Stadium and impressing since breaking into the first-team picture this season.

"I've really enjoyed being in and around the first-team so far this season, and I'm made up to get this deal sorted," he said.

"I think I've learned about how tough League One can be quite quickly really, and I've definitely noticed how much quicker the game is. I've enjoyed the experience so far, as I love a challenge, and to be involved on a regular basis with the first-team and get a good amount of minutes under my belt has been fantastic.

"In coming through the Academy set-up here, I think it shows to everyone that the pathway is there for young players to make that step-up into the first-team, so long may it continue."

Following Friday night's match against Exeter, Mayor has now made 16 appearances in all competitions, scoring two, and admits grabbing his first couple of goals at senior level so early on in his career was a great feeling.

"I've scored two so far at Harrogate in the cup and then the one against Wycombe," he said.

"Harrogate was my first one, and that was a good feeling as I had only made a couple of appearances back then. The one against Wycombe was in the league, and obviously went in directly from the corner, which was a great moment for me personally too.

"The past few months have given me a lot of confidence, and knowing that the gaffer believes in me and has the trust in me to play for the first-team is a great feeling."
