The Shrimps fell to a 2-1 defeat against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday afternoon.
Two goals from Niall Ennis and Sam Cosgrove were the difference at Home Park, while Anthony O’Connor was able to deliver a consolation goal in the first minute of four added on at the end of the second half.
Morecambe displayed a stubborn defensive effort to cut out a number of Argyle’s chances in the first half, while keeper Connor Ripley stood firm with some smart saves to deny the hosts.
Late in the first half, a penalty by Argyle’s Morgan Whittaker was saved by Ripley, keeping the score line level at 0-0; Whittaker struck to his right and Ripley quickly followed with a strong hand, his fourth penalty save of the season.
A late shot by Jensen Weir was the last action of the first half.
His well-struck effort looked to nestle in the bottom right corner, but Plymouth 'keeper Michael Cooper did well to get across and just about keep the strike out.

Morecambe enjoyed more posession in the early stages after the break as Plymouth pressed hard, with strong counterattacks testing the home side. A charge down the right-hand side by Dylan Connolly looked promising, but fell short.
Two early shots for Argyle tested Ripley once more, the first being fired over the net before Morecambe's number one deflected away the second.
Niall Ennis eventually broke the deadlock for Plymouth, shooting at close range after connecting with a cutback from the byline.
Derek Adams' men looked to respond with an attack shortly after going behind, a chance by Liam Shaw was claimed by Cooper.
A second goal for The Pilgrims came in the closing stages through Sam Cosgrove.
Captain Joe Edwards delivered a low cross to the substitute who slotted home with six minutes of normal time to play.
Anthony O’Connor managed to pull one back in the early stages of added time after breaking into the penalty box, his strike able to beat Cooper and the added pressure from Plymouth’s defence.
