All eyes on Rotherham says Bennett

21 February 2022

Defender Rhys Bennett says all eyes were fixed firmly on Rotherham United after Saturday’s postponement against Shrewsbury Town was confirmed.

There was no time to ponder on the decision as the Shrimps headed back up to Morecambe to put in more hours on the training ground, and Bennett says they know Tuesday night’s game against the Millers will be a tough task to overcome.

He said: “At this point in the season there is no resting on your laurels, the best practice was to get some sort of work in on Saturday ahead of another big game on Tuesday night.

“It will be a difficult game, they are very good at home, we know what their strengths are and it will be a hard game in testing circumstances, but we are looking forward to it.

“I think they have a great manager and a great set of players and they always seem to do really well in this division.”

Bennett joined the Club during the January transfer window from fellow Sky Bet League One side Gillingham, the towering centre-half says he has enjoyed the move up north and is confident that the side can string a run of results together.

He added: “I am really enjoying my time here, I got thrown in at the deep end against Accrington, I didn’t know anyones name but that is the unpredictably of football sometimes.

“It was bit surreal going up against your old club [Gillingham], I think we should have beaten them and we are disappointed with that, but it was nice to be a part of that fixture.

“I think we are not far away from going on a run, sometimes you are not far away from getting that bit of luck, if we win one game I am pretty confident that we can go on that run."
