Bedeau says Shrimps can learn a lot from Lincoln City defeat

11 February 2022

Defender Jacob Bedeau says that if the Shrimps can learn from Tuesday night’s defeat they’re capable of putting in a really good performance on Saturday.

Morecambe are back on home soil this weekend when they take on Gillingham in Sky Bet League One, and Bedeau says three points would take the Shrimps ‘a long way’.

“We can learn from that again [defeat to Lincoln City], we can’t start a game like that,” he said.

“It’s the start that cost us and I don’t know if there’s anything you can put that down to, but us as players have to realise what we did wrong and put it right on Saturday.

“If we take those two things, take them into Saturday, hopefully we can put in a really good performance and get the three points.”

The 22-year-old, who joined the club on loan at the beginning of January, agreed that it's fair to call the clash with Gillingham a ‘must win game’.

“I think every game in this League is winnable anyway, but Gillingham on the weekend is a really big game and I think three points would take us a long way,” he added.

“We’ve got to get right Thursday, Friday and go into that game knowing a win would be massive for us.

“I think we’ve got to take the positives from the last month, the performances we’ve put together have on the most-part have been good so if we take that we’ll be hopefully okay.”
