Toumani Diagouraga says the side can be proud of the way that they played in Tuesday night’s 2-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Goals from George Byers and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing secured the three points for the home side and Diagouraga stated the defeat is a hard one to take.
“I think the defeat is hard to accept especially with how we played in the second-half, we really tried to take the game to them and they got that lucky break in the end,” he said.
“We were pushing and pushing, we left a lot of men forward which obviously cost us the second goal and I think the result flattered them a little bit.
“I think the way that we played and the standards that we expect from ourselves, I think we can be pretty proud of the way we played.”
The Shrimps are back in Sky Bet League One action against Bolton Wanderers and Diagouraga says the side have to keep believing in their abilities.
“We go in to every game trying to get a result and this one as with the one on Saturday [against Bolton Wanderers] is no different,” he added.
“The situation we are in means we have to make sure we pick up points home and away and the Bolton game will be exactly the same.
“We just have to believe in what we are doing, on a different night the result in this game could have been different, it wasn’t to be but we are playing some good stuff at the moment.”
