Midfielder Alfie McCalmont says the side are slowly putting in defensive foundations after the signings of Trevor Carson and Jacob Bedeau during the January transfer window.
The duo have started their first two games since arriving at the Club, and have put in impressive performances against Tottenham Hotspur and AFC Wimbledon respectively, and McCalmont says they are a big part of the dressing room.
“We all spoke and we knew that we couldn’t keep conceding goals like we have done, we’ve had to come from two or three goals down at times already this season and we can’t keep doing that,” he said.
“So starting off by not conceding goals like we did at the weekend and then we just need to start chipping in with the goals that we know we are capable of doing.
“They [Trevor Carson and Jacob Bedeau] are a big part of this squad now, they both bring something to the team that we haven't got, it is good to have them.”
The Shrimps face Wigan Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers in their next two home games, and McCalmont has praised the fans for sticking with the team throughout the season.
“They are flying, they are right up there and still have a few games in hand over the teams above them, so we know that Tuesday night is going to be a tough test,” he added.
“We have had tough tests throughout the season but we’re up for it, training has been good, we have to be a bit tighter as they are very good up front, and we’ll hopefully take our chances.
“As a team, we talk about the support the home fans give us, it helps us and we fed off that in the Doncaster [Rovers] game, the atmosphere was electric and it gave us that extra boost to go and win the game.”
