Shrimps boss impressed with recent performances

17 January 2022

Shrimps boss Stephen Robinson says his team ‘do not fear anyone’ ahead of Tuesday night’s Sky Bet League One fixture against high-flying Wigan Athletic.

Robinson has been impressed with his side's performances of late and says if they can cut individual errors out of their game, they should do enough to keep their head above water this season.

“Wigan have sold out their end, so it will be a similar atmosphere to the Sheffield Wednesday game, you only have to look at their two recent signings to see how big of an attraction they are,” he said.

“They are going to be up there all season, it is up to us to make sure that we try and compete with them, if is a difficult challenge but we do not fear anyone in this division.

“If we implement our style of play on the game and rule out the individual errors that we’ve made on occasions, then we’ll be okay.”

Robinson was quick to pay tribute to his opposite number, Leam Richardson, and has praised the way he has got his side playing this campaign.

“Leam [Richardson] has built a squad, I say that they are going to be up there because of their finances, but you have to get the right players,” he added.

“He has a good style of play, they are really well organised, he came in at a really difficult time, he has helped stabilise things and they have gone from strength to strength.

“Wigan are a good club, a substantial club who have had financial problems at times but they are a club aiming for the Championship, as Wycombe will be on Saturday.”
