Derek Adams has reflected on his side’s Pre-Season campaign, saying they’ve accomplished what they set out to do at the beginning.
Morecambe rounded off their Pre-Season campaign with a 0-0 home draw versus Carlisle United, with focus now turning to next weekend’s Sky Bet League One opener against Shrewsbury Town at the Mazuma.
Adams says he is pleased with what his team have achieved over the last four weeks.
“I’m glad that Pre-Season has finished now,” he said.
“Pre-Season games are what they are, they’re about getting players minutes, trying to get through it without any injuries and that’s what the six games in Pre-Season have accomplished for us.
“We’ve taken in new players, seven of them, they’ve all got game time and the ones that’ve been here before as well.
“We’ve settled on everything for the games, and I think we’ve done that over Pre-Season, we’ve looked at the teams we’ve come up against, we’ve picked opposition in the Pre-Season that were going to test us and that’s certainly what’s happened.
“The likes of Huddersfield, Middlesbrough, Chester to a certain extent, Macclesfield and today in Carlisle.”
With less than seven days to go until the new season kicks off, Adams says it’ll be a normal week of preparations for his squad.
He added: “We’ve got a supporters’ day on Monday where all the supporters, hopefully a lot of younger supporters, come into the stadium and watch the training of the first team.
“Then they get the opportunity to get some autographs and pictures with the players, that’s a great start to the season.
“For us, we’re in, it’s a normal week, we don’t have any games, we’ve had a tough schedule of games and we’ve been able to come through that.
“We’re all looking forward to it now, Pre-Season is not the most enjoyable time.
“[When] playing games, you want to be playing for points and that’s what we’ve got coming up.”
