Goalkeeper Connor Ripley says the Shrimps are raring to go ahead of the 2022/23 Sky Bet League One season.
The 29-year-old played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet during Saturday’s 0-0 draw at home to Carlisle United.
With less than a week to go until the new season kicks off, the shot stopper admits the squad are well prepared for the campaign ahead.
“We are fit, we’re a fit bunch of lads, as I’ve been saying, we are ready for the beginning of the season,” he said.
“When I first came in, we were on the track and we were running, then the keepers went with Baz [Roche].
“Baz has been great as well getting the keepers fit, later on we were just getting the games in our legs so, getting the 90 minutes and it’s just preparing us for Shrewsbury.
“I’m excited, the backroom staff here, the staff have been telling us that I think we’re close to 3,000 season tickets and of course, there’ll be other people coming in and buying tickets.
“We’d like to think we’re going to get minimum over 3,000 people, so it’s going to be banging and it’s going to be booming when the crowd’s here.”
After signing for the Club in late June, Ripley admits he has really enjoyed the start to his Morecambe career and is looking to kick on.
He added: “I’ve come in and the lads have made me welcome, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here at the moment.
“Right now I’m just trying to get my eye in for the game, cut out a couple of silly mistakes, but that’s what Pre-Season games are for.
“Smithy [Adam Smith] is a great lad, I’ve known him since he was 17 or 18, we’ve known each other for a long time, we know how we work.
“Andre [Da Silva Mendes] is a young ‘keeper here who could probably learn from me, Smithy and Baz so it’s definitely a great time to be a goalkeeper at Morecambe.”
