McLoughlin expecting twists and turns in final nine league games

14 March 2022

Midfielder Shane McLoughlin says there will be plenty of twists and turns between now and the end of the Sky Bet League One season.

The Shrimps are 22nd in the standings and head to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night, McLoughlin says anything can happen in these last nine league games.

“It is going to be tight between now and the end of the season, it is going to take more than just one positive result but that one result could give us some momentum,” he said.

“It is so tight and it is nowhere near over, there are going to be a lot of twists and turns between now and the end of the season, there are nine games left and anything can happen in those.

“We are just hoping that we can get a result that can kick-start us, get a good run of form going and have a strong finish to the year.”

McLoughlin has been used in multiple positions throughout the 2021/22 campaign, something that the 25-year-old is more than happy to do.

“I am fine playing there [right-wing back], it is a position that I have played many times throughout my career, it takes a couple of minutes to adjust as you have a different outlook on the game,” he added.

“You have to tailor yourself to that position but I don’t mind it at all, I am happy to play anywhere to be honest with you, I am pleased with the season I have had personally.

“However, you can’t be too pleased because of the position the team is in, you want to have a good season and the team be higher up the league which is the frustrating part.”
